Most refrigerator water filters should be replaced every 6 months or after filtering 300-500 gallons of water. However, if you notice changes in taste, odor, or water flow, replace your refrigerator water filter sooner. Heavy usage may require more frequent replacements to maintain optimal water quality.
Quality refrigerator water filters remove chlorine, lead, mercury, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and other harmful contaminants. Our water filters use advanced carbon filtration technology to improve taste and odor while reducing up to 99% of common water pollutants found in tap water.
To find the correct refrigerator water filter, check your refrigerator's model number (usually found inside the fridge or on the back). You can also remove your current water filter to check the part number. Our water filters are compatible with major brands like Whirlpool, GE, Samsung, and LG.
High-quality generic refrigerator water filters can perform just as well as brand name filters at a fraction of the cost. Our water filters meet NSF standards and undergo rigorous testing to ensure they provide the same filtration performance as original equipment manufacturer filters.
A leaking refrigerator water filter usually indicates improper installation, a damaged O-ring, or an incompatible filter. Ensure your water filter is fully seated and twisted into place. If the leak persists, check that you're using the correct filter model for your refrigerator.
While most refrigerators can operate without a water filter by using a bypass plug, we don't recommend it. Without a water filter, you'll be drinking unfiltered tap water that may contain chlorine, sediment, and other contaminants that affect taste and potentially your health.
Refrigerator water filters treat water at the point of use, filtering only the water dispensed from your fridge. Whole house water filters treat all water entering your home. For drinking water, refrigerator water filters provide convenient, targeted filtration right at your kitchen.
After installing a new refrigerator water filter, locate the filter reset button (usually inside the fridge or on the display panel). Press and hold for 3-5 seconds until the light changes from red to green or blue. Some models require pressing multiple buttons simultaneously.
If water tastes bad after installing a new refrigerator water filter, run 2-3 gallons through the system to flush out carbon fines and air. If the taste persists, ensure you're using a genuine, high-quality water filter and check that it's properly installed.
Refrigerator water filters offer several advantages over pitcher filters: they provide filtered water on demand, have larger capacity, require less frequent replacement, and don't take up counter space. Our refrigerator water filters also typically remove more contaminants than standard pitcher filters.
